The National Institute of Laboratory Medicine and Referral Center is a government diagnostic center. It is located in Agargaon, Dhaka. It started its operation on December 2, 2019, under the direction of the Ministry of Health and welfare. Laboratory services started in January 2020. Since then it has acquired much reputation in medical investigations for low cost and reliable reports. These reports are widely accepted among doctors all over the country. The most beautiful part is quality control and very low cost. The National Institute of Laboratory Medicine and Referral Center, also known as NILMRC in short, also provides referral services and support for disease diagnosis, therapeutic management, and disease control. The institute is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory equipment that meets international standards. The primary objectives of NILMRC are to provide training in diagnostic and therapeutic practices, enhance laboratory testing standards to minimize errors, support patient care through reliable diagnostic services, offer referral laboratory services, conduct research, and contribute to government revenue generation. NILMRC has performed the highest number of corona tests during the covid pandemic period. NILMRC provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic services, including:
- Hematological, biochemical, immunological, and microbiological investigations using blood, urine, stool, and other clinical specimens.
- Histopathological and cytopathological examinations of tissue and biopsy specimens.
- Toxicological (dope) testing for drugs and other substances.
- Microbiological culture and antimicrobial susceptibility testing, along with diagnostic imaging services.
Quality Control: Laboratory quality is continuously monitored through the External Quality Assurance System (EQAS), ensuring compliance with international quality standards.
Digital Services: Laboratory reports are managed using a Laboratory Information System (LIS). In addition, a secure Patient Portal on the institute’s website enables patients to conveniently access and download their reports remotely.
